Vincenza Donzelli activates the old siren and the journey into the subsoil of Naples has begun.

The route down from the “internoA14” gallery is called “The Trail of Memories” and was laid out by the Bourbon Gallery association. It leads down to ancient caves and cisterns that were used as air-raid shelters during World War II.

One large cistern, partially emptied of demolition waste, still shows on the side the location of lavatories built for those who sought refuge in the shelter during the bombardments.

Everyone, when the siren sounded, sought shelter beneath ground.
